From estimate to walkthrough

What a complete re-side involves.

Every home is different, but a well-run exterior replacement follows a deliberate sequence so appearance, water management, and workmanship stay coordinated.

01

Exterior assessment

We review existing siding, trim, windows, roof transitions, penetrations, access, visible moisture concerns, and the look you want to achieve.

02

Written scope and selections

Your proposal defines tear-off, disposal, siding profile, trim, WRB and flashing approach, painting or factory finish, allowances, and known exclusions.

03

Pre-construction planning

We confirm materials, colors, access, staging, landscaping protection, electrical needs, work hours, and special conditions before work begins.

04

Protection and tear-off

Work areas are established and existing cladding is removed in controlled sections so the home is not unnecessarily exposed.

05

Inspection and repairs

Exposed sheathing and framing conditions are reviewed. Concealed damage is photographed and any added work is discussed before proceeding.

06

Drainage plane and flashing

The WRB, window and door openings, roof-to-wall transitions, horizontal breaks, decks, and penetrations are integrated to move water outward.

07

Trim and siding installation

Trim layout, starter courses, reveals, joints, fasteners, clearances, and accent areas are installed for the chosen product and design.

08

Caulking and finish

Specified joints are sealed, field-painted surfaces are prepared and coated, or factory-finished materials are detailed with compatible accessories.

09

Cleanup and final walkthrough

Debris is removed, the work area is cleaned, touch-ups are completed, and the finished exterior is reviewed with the homeowner.

How homeowners can prepare

  • Clear vehicles from the work and delivery areas
  • Move fragile wall décor away from exterior walls
  • Remove or secure window screens where requested
  • Trim plants touching the house and identify sensitive landscaping
  • Keep children and pets away from tools, scaffolding, and debris
  • Identify alarms, cameras, satellite equipment, and special utilities
  • Confirm outdoor power and water access

What affects schedule

  • Home size, height, and architectural complexity
  • Amount of trim, shingle, panel, or custom detail
  • Concealed sheathing or framing repairs
  • Window and door work included in the scope
  • Field-painting requirements and suitable weather
  • Product lead times, inspections, and access

Your proposal and scheduling conversation establish the expectations for your particular home.
